The property’s outdoor spaces harmonize with the Mediterranean vegetation, providing privacy in every corner while maintaining views of the sea from almost anywhere on the estate. Situated between two beaches; Platja de Sant Gervasi and Platja S’Adarro, the area is calm and residential, yet the beach boulevard is just steps away. The main shopping street, Rambla Principal, is about 1.6 km (1 mile) on foot, with some restaurants along the way.

History of Xalet del Nin

Designed by Catalan architect Fonts i Gumá in 1913, Xalet del Nin was commissioned by the Ferrer Nin family, the son of the mayor of Barcelona, who wanted a comfortable residence for his large family away from the unhealthy conditions of early 20th-century Barcelona.

The villa is an exceptional example of Catalan Modernism (Art Nouveau) blended with Noucentisme, combining elegant design details with traditional Catalan architectural elements. At the foot of Sant Gervasi hill, the property sits above the ruins of Adarró, an Iberian-Roman settlement. Archaeological finds date from the 5th to the 1st century BCE, later becoming a Roman villa within Tarraco’s territory (today’s Tarragona).

Renovations in 2019 preserved the villa’s original essence while uncovering a fossilized vine, confirming the area’s long history as one of the earliest sites for wine trade. These updates enhanced the villa’s character while maintaining its timeless architecture.

Accommodation

Xalet del Nin has 8 en-suite bedrooms, making it perfect for hosting the wedding party on-site over a weekend. The interiors are modern yet timeless, offering comfort and style for both couples and guests. The property also includes:

For high-season weddings, accommodation on-site is required, while for mid- and low-season dates it’s optional. Guests who aren’t staying at the villa can easily be based in Sitges, just a 15-minute drive away, where they’ll find a variety of hotels, restaurants, and a picturesque town center.

Weddings at Xalet del Nin

This venue is ideal for weddings that combine timeless elegance, local Catalan architecture, and Mediterranean vibes. While the villa can host up to 200 guests for weddings, we recommend a maximum of 150 to ensure the event flows smoothly. In our experience, the ideal wedding size for this property is between 100 and 130 guests, allowing couples to make the most of the villa’s beautiful outdoor and indoor spaces.

While there are a few hotels within walking distance, we usually recommend basing guests in Sitges for more accommodation options and its charming coastal atmosphere, and then arranging transportation to the villa on the wedding day.

Cocktail Hour

Cocktail hour usually takes place in the lush gardens, letting guests explore the grounds while enjoying the sea views, food, and drinks. In case of rain, a marquee tent or the indoor areas of the villa provide alternative spaces without losing charm.

Dinner options

Our favorite spot for dinner is the Olives Patio, an open-air space next to the house. Surrounded by trees and buildings, it feels like a cozy courtyard while accommodating larger celebrations.

The Umbracle, an indoor dining area next to the main ceremony space, offers a flexible indoor-outdoor feel with glass walls that open up — perfect as a Plan B for bad weather. This space has a modern architecture which is slightly different in style from the main house.

Party

After dinner, the party moves indoors to the villa’s ground-floor dance space, where the DJ booth is set up in front of a fireplace. The room is well-proportioned, creating an intimate yet lively atmosphere, with direct access to the garden and fountain area, where a lounge space allows guests to relax.
