Guest transportation for your Barcelona wedding –

Logistics and transportation questions are super common worries that our couples have. So we decided to make this post if this is something you also worry about. You’re welcome!

A part from the obvious choice (taxi), let us explain what more options are available.

Private car with driver

While taxis are able to drive you to any hotel, they might not be familiar with some of the more remote areas on the country side like private villas. We can help to pre-book cars, vans and minibuses with drivers to take you from the airport to your accommodation. We arrange a meet and greet at the airport with a person helping you to find the vehicle.

Renting a car

Renting a car is a good idea if you will be staying at a remote villa, as it will allow you to explore the surroundings and do some shopping. You can do it easily through companies like Sixt, Hertz, Europcar or Avis which are all available right at Barcelona airport. Don’t forget the GPS and the insurance, it’s well worth it!

Taxis

Taxi is the easiest way for guests to get to their accommodation. They just need to follow the taxi signs at the airport to get to the taxi zone. The taxis in Barcelona are black and yellow. They are impossible to miss and you see them everywhere in town. Average taxi prices from the airport to Barcelona center varies between 25-35 EUR aprox, depending on where in town you are staying and what time of the day you are traveling. If they need taxis during their stay in Barcelona, their hotel can help them to call for one, or they can just step outside and wave in the taxis directly on the street (this is possible in Barcelona city, while smaller villages/towns you would need to call for them). Taxis from the airport to Sitges are around 60-80 EUR.

Aerobus blue shuttle buses to Barcelona

Some guests might opt for public transportation. The most common option is taking the light blue shuttle buses. They are called Aerobus, and departure from both Terminal 1 and Terminal 2 frequently. They stop at various places in Barcelona city such as Plaça Universitat and Plaça Catalunya. The one way ticket is around 6,00 EUR per person. You can buy the ticket on site make sure to have some cash, as we are not sure if they always take credit card. There is a special area for luggage inside the buses, but please keep an eye on your luggage anyway.

Regional train (Renfe)

There is a regional Renfe train from the airports Terminal 2 that takes you to the center of Barcelona. The train stops at Sants Estació, Passeig de Gracia, and Estació de França, and it takes between 40-50 min. At the moment there is no train connections from Terminal 1, but there is a free bus shuttle between the two terminals, so if you arrive at Terminal 1 you can easily take the bus to Terminal 2 and take the train from there. The bus shuttle between the terminals is quick, just 7 minutes. Train tickets can be bought at the train stop in the machines available (currently 4,60 EUR/ticket). Please note that you will need to know your credit cards pin-code to complete the purchase. Cash is also accepted (bills only). If you have problems buying the tickets, there is always staff there who can help.

If your guests are staying in Sitges, there is another bus company called Monbus that offers shuttle from Terminal 2 to Sitges. You can also take the regional Renfe train to Sitges from Terminal 2, but it’s a bit more tricky since you need to change to another train at the Prat de Llobregat station, therefore we recommend to avoid using the train if you are going to Sitges.

Guest transportation for the wedding day

You will most likely need guest transportation to and from the venue. We will book the buses for you, based on the amount of guests.

Some venues have very narrow access roads where only minibuses can be used. In some occasions we will need to use various bus companies to cover the need of minibuses as those are less common than standard buses.

We always recommend to book the bus departures from one specific hotel, the guests will be informed beforehand so they can make their way to the hotel in time for the bus departure if they are staying elsewhere. We always have one staff member or an assistant on site to make sure everyone gets on the bus.

For the return transfers at night, we recommend to have a van for shuttle between the hotel and the venue, as well as some buses that departure at specific times. It’s extremely important to have night time transfers at different times, as some guests might want to leave earlier – especially if your wedding takes place at a more remote venue where it’s difficult to get hold of taxis.
