Almiral de la Font: A Rustic Catalan Masia for Intimate Weddings Near Sitges

If you want a wedding that feels relaxed and memorable, I recommend Almiral de la Font. This historic Catalan masia sits just 10 minutes from Sitges, on a hillside in the Penedès wine region, and is surrounded by the Garraf Natural Park. It offers sweeping valley views, plenty of space for guests to stay, and a mix of indoor and outdoor areas. It’s perfect for a small wedding weekend where everyone can gather, celebrate, and enjoy the surroundings.

A bit of history

Almiral de la Font dates back to 1570 and was originally a working farmhouse for winemaking and farming. The surrounding vineyards are still active, producing grapes for renowned cava houses like Freixenet and Codorníu. One of the unique touches here is that couples can enjoy a tasting of the masia’s own cava on their wedding day, adding a local, authentic flavor to the celebration.

Accommodation

The villa has 13 double bedrooms in the main house, each with its own personality, and a smaller cottage next door that sleeps an additional 4–5 guests. This makes it easy for most of your wedding party to stay on-site and enjoy the villa as a home base for the weekend. For any additional guests, Sitges is just a short drive away, offering a variety of charming hotels.

Weddings at Almiral de la Font

Almiral de la Font is best suited for weddings with up to 80 guests. In my experience, 60–70 guests is ideal, keeping the celebration intimate while making full use of the villa’s spaces. The villa’s historic stone walls, hillside views, and peaceful surroundings create a setting that feels personal and memorable.

Note: The marquee tent is available as a Plan B for rain, and the indoor dance area is used for after-party celebrations.

Ceremony spaces

  • Wooden Deck Up the Hill – This elevated deck is surrounded by pine trees and offers panoramic valley views. It’s a peaceful, private spot that works beautifully for intimate weddings.
  • Indoor party area can also double as a ceremony space in case of bad weather.

Cocktail Hour

Cocktail hour at Almiral de la Font usually takes place on the second wooden deck at house level. This space offers wide, panoramic views across the valley and is perfect for mingling, tasting local cava, and enjoying a few bites with your closest friends and family. It’s an ideal way to transition from the ceremony while your guests soak in the natural beauty of the villa and surrounding vineyards.

Dinner

Dinner at Almiral de la Font is usually served in the courtyard at the front of the house, framed by the villa’s rustic stone walls. If you’re lucky, the bougainvillea will be in bloom, creating a beautiful natural backdrop.

For weddings with a maximum of 80 guests, this space works well, and a marquee tent can be set up as a Plan B in case of rain (the owners require 3–4 days’ notice). The courtyard allows your guests to enjoy the villa’s Mediterranean charm while seated together, creating an intimate and welcoming atmosphere for the dinner.

Party

After dinner, guests can move just inside to the party room next to the courtyard. The space is well-proportioned — not too big, not too small — so it feels intimate while still perfect for dancing and celebrating.

This room also serves as a Plan B for the ceremony if the weather requires a move indoors, making it a flexible option for your wedding day. Its layout and rustic charm create a cozy, lively atmosphere where your celebration can continue comfortably into the evening.

Why choose Almiral de la Font for your wedding?

I recommend Almiral de la Font for its stunning views, historic charm, and intimate atmosphere. Many of your guests can stay on-site, and with a pool, sauna, game room, and plenty of lounge spaces, everyone has space to relax and enjoy the weekend. Its proximity to Sitges also makes it convenient for extra accommodations or exploring the coast.
